OMS Homes for Haiti
One Mission Society has been ministering in Haiti for more than 50 years, so when the earthquake hit in January 2010, we immediately thought of ways to help.
Right after the earthquake, OMS sent relief supplies and medical teams to help meet the immediate needs of the Haitian people. As time progressed, OMS started looking for ways to contribute to long-term needs as Haitians rebuild their country. Some estimate that there may be as many as 2 million Haitians who are still homeless. OMS wants to help provide homes. OMS is partnering with national churches in Haiti, in the OMS Homes for Haiti project, to provide durable, quality homes for Haitian families.
How can you get involved?
- Sponsor the building of a house (or a portion of a house) for a Haitian family as a church, Bible study group or individual. One home can be built for $10,000
- Your church can put together a team of 4-6 people who will work alongside Haitian workers, to build a home.
