OMS Haiti Relief Update

January 6, 2011
A Report on Your Haiti Investment

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support for Haiti. One Mission Society continues to minister to the people of Haiti as they recover from the devastating earthquake in January 2010 and are currently dealing with the outbreak of cholera. OMS, a vital source of hope in the midst of these crises, ministers to hundreds of thousands of people, bringing physical, emotional and spiritual hope and help to them.  You helped make this happen. Here is a brief update on what’s taken place.
Because of your generosity, more than $500,000 was given to Haiti disaster relief through OMS, and another $500,000 has been committed for ongoing projects, including building new houses for victims of the earthquake (Homes for Haiti). Your gifts have helped Haitian communities in several ways. For example, $250,000 is being used for the reconstruction of a church in Port-au-Prince, and $60,000 of this money has been distributed to families through the local churches. Another $20,000 provided fuel for Radio 4VEH’s generators so the station could keep broadcasting its message of hope after the earthquake. And more than $225,000 has helped fund medical clinics, tents and food for earthquake victims, restoration and relief team trips and repairs to the OMS guest house.
