Mission Trips to Colombia

Friends,

We’re looking for a few folks to help fill a couple of important teams in Bogota, Colombia.

The first team is December 2-16 and the estimated cost is $1550 depending on final airfare costs.   The other team is January 7-21 and the cost estimate is about the same.

Further information about the work the teams will perform is listed below.

Plans for the trips to Colombia:

Both teams will be building individual tables and chairs for the classrooms for the two Christian Schools in Bogota.

They will need to have angles cut for the legs, table top supports and back support for chairs.   Then they will make the tops and backs of wood.   They will need people to weld, cut angles, sand, varnish, and paint.   There may be some who will help with painting in one of the schools.


OMS Mission Needs

OMS is in need of the following individuals.  We are in need of Church Multiplication Facilitators and Shepherds.  Please read the information related to each below and if you believe the Lord might be leading you to consider these positions, please click on the link above to Paul Cox, OMS’s Director of Recruitment.


Church Multiplication Facilitator

Travels to assigned country or countries three or four times per year to working along-side the national chruch multiplication coordinator for two to four weeks per visit, serving as a coach, trainer, prayer partner and consultant to initiate or nurture church multiplication. Continues coaching realtionship via phone and e-mail between visits.

• Has a passion to share the Good News with lost people

• Thinks strategically

• Passionate and persistent in prayer

• Team player

• Coaches National Church Planters

• Is an effective trainer

• Helps church planters apply the best church multiplicaiton principles in their local context

• Encourages others

• Works well cross culturally

• Supports in Prayer

• Casts Vision for Church Multiplicaiton

• Has experience in church planting

• Probable spiritual gifts: Teaching, Prophecy, Evangelism, Administration, and/or Pastor


Shepherd

Visits assigned country once or twice per year for one or two weeks per visit to encourage national church planting coordinators and his team, to pray with them and for them and serve as a personal accountability partner for the coordinator.

• Has a heart of compassion for lost people

• Is an encourager

• Lives a balanced life

• Looks out for the welfare of others

• Passionate and persistent in prayer

• Committed to helping others live as strong disciples of Jesus Christ

• Probable spiritual gifts: Pastoring, Exhortation, Mercy and/orService

Missionary in Residence at Houghton College

Missionaries In Residence are experienced mission personnel who remain fully employed with and fully supported (salary, housing and other benefits) by One Mission Society and who commit to the Houghton community, interact with students, engage in selected areas of service on campus, and fulfill assignments as requested.

MIR’s must have the ability to coach, mentor, train and direct candidates and short-term missionaries.   They need a passion for campus ministry, a College degree, and knowledge of One Mission Society is preferred.  The ability to write clear correspondence and to communicate effectively (written and oral), is also required.
