Ecuador Prayer Digest –May 15, 2012

<> PRAY for the short-term missions teams planned for June and July to collaborate in various ministries such as the Bible School and
construction.

<> PRAYER NETWORK – Pray for the Ecuador Prayer Chain, that every day it will grow stronger and grow in God. Pray that the zone coordinators will commit to greater prayer time.

THE COAST

<> GUAYAQUIL – PRAY for SEMIRED – Seminary for the Kingdom of God – in Guayaquil. PRAY for students, Faculty and the necessary funds to meet expenses

<> MARCELINO MARIDUENA
++ Pastor Absalon is praying for a clear vision for ministry and for the growth of the Belen II church in Marcelino Mariduena. Join him in praying.
++ PRAY for the pastor and his family as they deal with the stressful situation caused by the rebellion of their older daughter. Pray for them in the midst of this trial, especially the younger daughter still at home.

<> CAMP PALLATANGA – “Race to Success Retreat” MAY 18-20
++ PRAY for Brian Cook as he provides leadership, and for Alan Smith assisting behind the scenes
++ At this “Workshop of the Master”, we will set up a car tailored to the plans of the manufacturer. Activities will also include building cars to compete and learning how to “win” God’s way.
++ PRAY that the messages may touch the hearts of every participant, and draw them closer to Jesus.

<> CAMP PALLATANGA MAY 14-29
++ PRAY for Alan Smith as he travels from Ohio to work at the Camp. He will be helping with the “Formula One” retreat and doing miscellaneous work throughout those two weeks
++ PRAY for good health and safety and for the hearts of the people he encounters along the way. PRAY that God will prevent the language barrier from interfering with witnessing opportunities.

THE SIERRA

<> CUMBAYA – God is at work in many ways! Neda brought her landlady to church, and prayer meeting. After the prayer meeting, a missionary explained the Gospel to this dear, older lady and she put her trust in Christ that night!

<> QUITO
++ PRAY for the growth of the Family Bible Church and for new believers each day to go forward in love and fear of God. PRAY for the ministry of pastors Fabian Cortez and Levis Nassif
++ YOU PRAYED – For the house churches that are meeting in Quito.- GOD ANSWERED and opened homes to establish study groups, and later to start new churches.

<> RIOBAMBA – 110 pastors and workers attended the Pastoral Conference from different denominations, including several Quichua-speaking Churches.  PRAY for a future conference for indigenous pastors. and leaders..

<> AZOGUES – The CHARASOL House Church celebrated five baptisms on Saturday. Please pray for the five who were baptized – Julio, Guadalupe, Rachel, Anabel and Matias. (the last three are young adults)

<> CUENCA – Voices of Hope – Prison Ministry
++ The women in Discipleship class are taking small steps of obedience and trying to be faithful in the small things – punctuality, responsibility, honesty, accountability and commitment. PRAY for them.
++ PRAY for our team as members do double duty to cover for our leader who will be in the US until JUL 24. PRAY that our ministry will continue to bring Glory to God.
++ We packed gift bags for Mother’s Day to celebrate on Tuesday with music and a puppet presentation PRAY for a positive response and that God’s truth will penetrate their minds and hearts.

<> CUENCA
++ The Ladies Tea was a great time of fellowship even though we were a bit smaller in number then usual. The speaker shared with the ladies about the Samaritan woman at the well. It was a great time.
++ PRAY for Dave Small as leads a seminar MAY 21-23 and works to develop a palliative care ministry with the Upper Room Church. PRAY for an impact on the way cancer patients are given care and dignity in their last days.
++ Dean Davis will be here this week to speak at several churches and make a visit to Saraguro. We are excited for him to see the changes as new leaders are developing.

<> SARAGURO
++ Dr. Bill and Ilene Douce will remain after the medical team to visit folks in Saraguro. Dr. Douce is 90 this year! He gets around well and always makes this visit back to their beloved calling with the Saraguro people.
++ The Douces have seen the Lord do a lot over the many years since they first set foot in Saraguro in the late 1950s. There are plans for a book coming out about the life and ministry of the Douces in Ecuador.   Stay tuned.
++ Dr Vernon Hall and son will also be in Saraguro for a few days after working with the medical team.

<> LOJA – PRAY for four ladies helping Jennifer Riggs to plan and get materials together for a VBS training that will take place here in Loja and then be held another weekend in Cuenca.

THE ORIENTE

<> PUYO, CANELOS, ASUNCION and SUCUA – Medical Team from University of Indianapolis MAY 9-23
++ The medical team with student nurses from the Univ. of Indianapolis will spend Sunday-Tuesday in Puyo, then Wednesday-Thursday in Sucua. Pray for pastor Jose in Puyo and Pastor Danilo in Sucua.
++ At these clinics at the edge of the jungle, we should see a number of indigenous Shuar as well as many mestizos. PRAY for effective ministry to body and soul.
++ PRAY for good counseling and follow up as well as for the physical needs that will be treated. Our hearts desire is to see many people come to a saving relationship with the Lord and seek ongoing discipleship.
++ PRAY for team leaders Garth & Becca Cartledge and for team members: Lauren Kirch, Katelin Wagoner, Anna Beaty, Cassandra Carrow, Hannah Duncan, Kelly Hackney, Kathleen Hetzler, Alexis Mellady, Hannah Richter, Sarah Rodriguez, Lauren Soza, Amanda Spaetti, Aubrey Strati, Stacey Turner, Larry Bracken, Liana Cartledge, John Miller, John Reeves, Vernon Hall and Stephen Hall.
++ PRAY for the patients as they come for treatment. PRAY that each individual might be open to hear the Good News of Christ’s Love that will be shared with them.
++ PRAY for good health and stamina as team members, Doctors, translators, Missionaries and church members work to share God’s mercy and grace each day.

<> CHASKI MINISTRY (ECC work among the Saraguro in the Oriente)
++ PRAY for the new believers who will be baptized in the next few months in the communities of Piuntza, Yacuambi, and others in the Zamora Chinchipe province.
++ PRAY for the health of Sister Angelita Morocho, who is over 70 years old.
++ Pray for Sisters Rosa, Anita & Edel, that God would guide them in the formation of a prayer team
++ Pray for the home of Martin and Maria, that God would restore this home. May God use them in ministry.
++ Pray for the baptism of Himelda Cartuche.
++ Pray for the family of Ana Gualan, that God will give wisdom to her parents in the raising of their children. At the same time, that God would use Brother Wilson Cartuche in the ministry.
++ YOU PRAYED for the starting of churches in the ACIS indigenous ministry. – GOD ANSWERED by planting the desire in the brothers of the ACIS, to begin to multiply and to start new house churches.

~ We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in the Galapagos. We visited three islands, saw lots of turtles and finches and talked with some of the islanders. We returned refreshed and ready to charge ahead.

<> WILLIAMSON, BJ & ANDREA – Cuenca
~ PRAY for Andrea as she translates for the medical team in the jungle through WED. Pray for Super-Dad BJ at home.
~ BJ will attend the retreat at Camp Pallatanga with several men from our district this weekend. Pray for safe travels and a spirit filled time of fellowship. Pray for Super-Mom Andrea at home.
~ Andrea’s health has not gotten much better with antibiotics. Pray that she can get some help from the doctors on the medical team!
